In this episode of How I Got The Shot, Kyle (@throwing_fitz) used Link Units and magnetic Color Gel Domes to photograph Daylan Fisher (@daylan.fisher) from Tribe Talent Management (@tribetalent) to create 3 bold lighting setups.
For the first set up, Kyle used a 86” Soft Silver PLM™ Umbrella, a 10″ x 36″ Stripbox with a red gel dome, and a 24″ Silver Interior Beauty Dish. He placed Daylan in front of the PLM to create a glow behind him, placed the beauty dish in front, angled down, with the stripbox to the side feathered out.

For the second shot, he used two 10″ x 36″ Stripboxes, one with a teal gel dome, and the other with a red. He faced the two stripboxes towards each other angled diagonally and put Daylan in the middle. This creates a very dramatic split lighting, made even more striking by the opposing colors!

For the final look, Kyle got inspired by the thought of using 2 Eclipse Optical Snoots, and figured why not make it 3?
With each snoot on a Link with a different gel dome (purple, magenta, and yellow) along with the slit GOBO’s, multi-colored slices of light luminated Daylan’s face side by side.
He lit the grey backdrop with a 10″ x 36″ Stripbox and teal gel dome to create separation.
