Nashville-based photographer/videographer, Dune Baydoun, mixes natural and artificial light in a bamboo backyard shoot.
I recently cut down a ton of bamboo from my yard, as it was starting to really encroach everything. So as the green faded into these really awesome yellow tones, I wanted to photograph someone with vividly red hair to compliment it and Dale Rainey was the perfect subject. I wanted to keep the style minimal, with very simple clothing.
I changed the position of the strobes for different looks. Some I shot with the light in front slightly to the side to highlight the subject, and then on others I used the strobe as a backlight through branches. It is so easy to accidentally overpower things with strobes, so my suggestion is to begin soft and work your way up to more powerful, and to be careful not to blow things out!

For these images, I only used a single Einstein strobe, with a 47″ Foldable Octabox and a grid. The camera I used was my Sony a7rii with my 85 1.8 and my 24-70 f4.
