Using Color Gels Outdoors | HOW I GOT THE SHOT

Welcome back to another installment of “How I Got The Shot!”

In this episode, we venture into the hot Tennessee sun to shoot with color gels outside!

Our Color Gel Domes are compatible with our Celestial and Link Flash units.

For the first set up, Kyle positioned the model in front of a tree, the key lighting being a Celestial with our new 41″ Silver Foldable Beauty Dish with no gel. To light up the tree, he used a Celestial bare-bulb with a blue color gel dome.

Check out the final images below!

For the next setup, Kyle positioned the model by the waterfront, lighting her with 14″ x 60″ Foldable Stripbox with an orange gel dome as the key, and the 41″ Silver Foldable Beauty Dish with a teal gel dome as a rim light.

For the final set up, the model was lit in a shady forest path with the same lights and modifiers as previous, but using a blue gel dome on the beauty dish, and magenta on the stripbox. These were positioned to create moody split lighting!

Special thanks to our model Frankie!
