THE SETUP BEHIND THE SHOT – CHARMEKIA BIAS

My client wanted images with her son. I love when parents want to get in front of the camera and exist in portraits with their kiddos. It’s one of the greatest gifts you can give your children. I always set out to get an individual portrait of each person at the shoot and let their personality shine. Toddlers make it so much fun because they are full of imagination and personality. I try not to pose as much with toddlers and allow them to just do what comes natural. I believe that’s when you get the most authentic look into their big personalities. We were able to achieve that with Luke. He has the cutest little smile!

THE SETUP
For this look, I used a simple one light setup. I placed my Einstein flash unit camera left at roughly a 45-degree angle between Luke and myself. To get such a soft spread of light, I modified my flash with an 86” White PLM Umbrella, along with the Black Outer Cover, and White Front Diffusion Fabric. I had my Einstein at its lowest power setting to achieve the soft and consistent lighting that I was wanting.
